Research Data Storage "Datastorage.nrw" – for researchers and institutions

Online object storage exclusively for research data (e.g., measurement, image, and simulation data; not suitable for administrative or teaching data).

Availability: University of Cologne (UoC) staff; access granted upon application only. Applicants must hold project responsibility (criteria generally include a doctorate and a permanent position; doctoral candidates generally apply via their supervisor). External partners (including those affiliated with UoC) may be invited to use existing storage resources.

Storage capacity: Up to a maximum of 125 TB with a technical assessment; exceeding 125 TB requires an additional third-party funding ID or a scientific review.

Access: Via the "Coscine" web frontend, S3 API, or S3 client software; integration via Rcloud (with reduced functionality) is also possible. Compliance: Personal data may generally be stored; users are responsible for implementing any additional protective measures that may be required.

Prerequisite: Request submitted by staff (using their University of Cologne email address) to fmd-storage@uni-koeln.de; consultation is mandatory.
