As of July 1, 2024, the ITCC has assumed responsibility for all telephony matters across the entire university.
There are two different contact addresses for service requests and trouble reports:
- For mobile services (work cell phones), please contact mobilfunk(at)uni-koeln(dot)de
- For all other issues, please email uzk-telefonie(at)uni-koeln(dot)de

If your extension number begins with 478-, please contact the University Hospital. We are only responsible for extension numbers that begin with 470-.
FAQ
How do I change or request an entry in the university's internal phone directory?
The phone directory is not managed by the ITCC. Please contact the Administrative Services Office. You will find the relevant forms on the linked page.
How can I tell which phone system I'm using to make a call?
UzK currently operates several telephone systems that are interconnected. All phone numbers begin with 470-, regardless of which system they are on. The main difference lies between the various systems from Siemens/Unify/Atos/Mitel on the one hand, and the system from Cisco/Webex on the other.
- Phone numbers for the Cisco/Webex system are five digits long and fall within either the 89600–89799 range or the 90000–91999 range.
- Phone numbers for the other systems are either four or five digits long. The five-digit numbers do not fall within the ranges mentioned above.
How do I set up OpenScape UC?
OpenScape UC is a solution from outside the Cisco/Webex ecosystem. Accordingly, you can find the documentation for it there. New accounts are preferably set up using Webex.
The username for OpenScape UC is always 49221470 followed by the extension. For example, if the extension were 1111, the username would be 492214701111.

How do I look up phone numbers for people at the university?
Webex includes a search function, but it currently only finds people who are already using Webex themselves.
