Activation of the student account

All students of the University of Cologne receive a PIN with their documents at the matriculation.

In order to activate your student account, please have your matriculation and your PIN number ready and visit the following website:

Step-by-step instructions for activation

  1. Accept user regulations 
    To be able to log in to the uniKIM interface (uniKIM portal), you must first accept the University of Cologne's user regulations. To do this, click on the button "Confirm user regulations and continue to login!" [Image 1].
  2. Login
    Log in with the following data [Image 2]:
    User name: your matriculation number
    Password: the PIN that was sent to you by e-mail
  3. Security questions
    Please fill out the form for the security questions accordingly. The questions are required to reset the password if it has been forgotten. If the entry is successful, a confirmation message will appear [Fig. 3]
  4. Re-entering the old password (here: PIN)
    Re-enter your old password (your PIN) [Fig. 5].
  5. Setting the new password
    Now enter your new (secure) password. Please note the criteria listed above the entry. Repeat the entry. If the entries were successful, a loading bar appears first and then the success message. Never pass on the password. No part of the university will ask you to disclose your password! [Picture 6]
  6. Make a note of your username!
    You will now see the dashboard. Please make a note of your user name/username. This is also displayed in the top right-hand corner [Fig. 8]. This is central to your studies and is used to log in to many services of the University of Cologne (e.g. Ilias, Klips2.0, VPN). The password is the password you have just set. Under Applications you will find your options for the account settings (e.g. change password). To log out, click on the name or user name at the top right and then click on "Log out".

Never give your password to anyone. No university office will ask you to hand over your password! Not even the ITCC!

Validity

The student account is valid for the time of you being matriculated at the University of Cologne. It will be deleted after your exmatriculation.
